Double For Your Trouble

For the Scripture says, “Everyone who believes in him will not be put to shame.” (Romans 10:11 ESV)

Shame is a powerful negative emotion that can be brought on by different things. It can be caused by rejection instead of acceptance, punishment instead of discipline, criticism instead of praise, neglect instead of love, etc. These different forms of rejection can cause feelings of worthlessness, less than, damaged goods, ultimately causing a low self-image of yourself; devalued from your true priceless worth. How do we let go of shame? How do we get free from this oppressive destructive emotion?

The freedom we seek is found in Jesus. “You are truly my disciples if you remain faithful to my teachings. And you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free (John 8:31-32)”. Jesus has given us the answer in this scripture. Remain (abide, dwell) faithful (committed, true) to his teachings (the word of God), and this truth (the word of God) will set you free from the oppressive lies (shame) you’ve believed.

Is there something in your past that still causes you shame today? Don’t live under shame and condemnation another moment. Be set free today. “Now there is no condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus (Rom. 8:1).”

“Instead of your [former] shame you shall have a twofold recompense; instead of dishonor and reproach [your people] shall rejoice in their portion… everlasting joy shall be theirs. For, I the Lord love justice… I will faithfully give them their recompense in truth (Isa. 61:7-9).”

You will receive a double reward for your former shame. You will rejoice in your portion. Double for what has been forfeited and everlasting joy. Remain. Believe the truth found in the Word of God that promises a twofold recompense for your former shame and be set free today.

Prayer: Dear Heavenly Father, thank you for the truth found in your word. In it, is the power to set me free. I choose to receive the twofold recompense for my former shame. I choose to be set free today. I am not damaged goods. I am not less than. I am worthy. I am loved. I am yours. I pray these things in Jesus’ precious name. Amen!
